The wonderfully fragrant parcel that comes to you beautifully wrapped in banana leaf is the loving collaboration of several delicious recipes unique to the Dutch Burgher community in Sri Lanka. In the olden days, Lamprais was a firm Sunday favourite that took about two days of preparation and an entire morning of cooking. It’s truly a labour of love, unwrapped and devoured by family, extended family and friends after returning home from morning church service.

The term Lamprais is derived from the Dutch word ‘lomprijst’ which loosely translates into ‘packet of rice’. The Dutch Burgher Feast at our next Sunday Sessions on 28th April celebrates the unique recipes and traditions of the Burgher community in Sri Lanka alongside some fiery homemade ginger beer and Dutch Genever cocktails.

The menu includes a selection of short eats; Duck Patties, Black Pork Puff, Tuna & Egg Rolls, Lamprais with Mixed Meat Curry, Cutlets, Seeni Sambol, Brinjal Moju and more. And to finish it all off, Love Cake & Rose Cream.
Also on offer will be fiery homemade ginger beer and Dutch Genever cocktails.
